Miami Dolphins trade Jalen Ramsey, Jonnu Smith to Pittsburg Steelers for Minkah Fitzpatrick

The Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers confirmed Monday that the Dolphins are sending All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, Pro Bowl tight end Jonnu Smith and a 2027 seventh round pick to Pittsburg, in exchange for All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth round pick to the Dolphins, pending physicals.

Ramsey confirmed the news on X: “Break my own news! 🤟🏾 #HereWeGo @steelers” Both Ramsey and the Dolphins, where he spent the past two seasons, had mutually agreed earlier this year to part ways.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Ramsey will get a $1.5 million raise this season, bringing his 2025 compensation up to $26.6 million. He signed a three-year, $72 million contract with the Dolphins in September. Ramsey, 30, joined the Dolphins through a 2023 trade with the Los Angeles Rams, and has appeared in 27 games over the last two seasons and totaled 60 combined tackles, 11 passes defensed, six tackles for a loss, and two interceptions over 17 starts last season.

Sources told NFL Network that the Steelers also agreed to adjust Ramsey’s contract, giving the All-Pro cornerback a $1.5 million raise and pushing his 2025 salary to $26.6 million. They also agreed to give Smith a one-year, $12 million extension.

Smith was to make $4 million from the Dolphins in 2025. The eight-year veteran registered career-highs in targets (111), catches (88) and receiving yards (884) last season, when he also matched his career-high in receiving scores (8).

Fitzpatrick was selected 11th overall by the Dolphins before being traded for a package that included a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. After arriving in Pittsburgh, he has become one of the league’s premier safeties, making three All-Pro teams and five Pro Bowls, while recording 18 interceptions and 45 pass breakups.

Oklahoma City’s Jalen Williams to have right wrist surgery

Oklahoma City Thunder executive vice president and general manager Sam Presti told reporters on Monday that Thunder forward Jalen Williams, 24, will undergo surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist in the off-season. Presti added that Williams is expected to be available for the start of the 2025-26 NBA regular season.

Presti said that Williams played with an injury to his shooting hand during Oklahoma City’s title run towards their first NBA championship. According to Thunder podcaster Andrew Schlecht, Williams’ injury happened during a victory over the Phoenix Suns in the final week of the regular season, which saw him finish with 33 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 2 turnovers.

Williams could be seen wearing a brace on that ailing right wrist during the postseason practice sessions and shootarounds, but didn’t miss any time. He shot under 40% from the field in nine of Oklahoma City’s 23 playoff games, and throughout Oklahoma City’s playoff run he averaged 21.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.4 steals in 34.6 minutes per game as the Thunder won the Western Conference crown, and defeated the Indiana Pacers in seven games in the 2025 NBA Finals.

Presti said Monday:  “The part that I’m most impressed with is in our modern era, when someone has a poor performance, or they’re not playing to their capability in a game and there’s a lot of attention on it, you often see a little birdie make sure that everybody knows that the player is not 100%. Never happened with this guy. Not one time. He powered through. He showed incredible mental endurance and security in himself.”

HBO documentary ‘Billy Joel: And So It Goes’ premiering in two parts on July 18th, July 25

The HBO Original two-part documentary Billy Joel: And So It Goes will debut on Friday, July 18th at 8 pm ET/PT followed by part two debuting Friday, July 25th at the same time on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max.

Billy Joel: And So It Goes, directed by Emmy winners Susan Lacy and Jessica Levin, teases “unprecedented access to never-before-seen performances, home movies, and personal photographs, along with extensive, in-depth one-on-one interviews.” The two-part documentary – directed by Emmy winners Susan Lacy and Jessica Levin – is described as “an expansive portrait of the life and music” of Joel, and is set to explore the “love, loss, and personal struggles that fuel his songwriting.”

Director Lacy shares: “For those who think they know Joel’s story, as well as those who are not as familiar, I believe this two-part film is both a revelation and a surprise. I was drawn to his story as someone who knew little at the outset, and was astounded at how autobiographical his songs are and how complex his story is. We are gratified that Bill trusted us with his story, which we have told as honestly as possible, diving into territory which has not been explored before.”

The documentary features interviews with Joel, as well as friend and former collaborator Jon Small, ex-wife and former manager Elizabeth Weber, ex-wives Christie Brinkley and Katie Lee, daughter Alexa Ray Joel, wife Alexis Roderick Joel, members of his band, and musical contemporaries, such as Bruce Springsteen, Sting, John Mellencamp, Nas, Pink, Garth Brooks, Paul McCartney, and more.
