Oklahoma City Thunder beat Minnesota Timberwolves 128-126 in Game 4

The Oklahoma City Thunder came back after a 42-point loss to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves 128-126 in Game 4 on Monday night in the Western Conference finals. OKC leads series 3-1.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 40 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists; he said after the game: “I tried not to worry too much about scoring or making plays or whatever it was. I tried to just lose myself in the competition, be aggressive, pick my spots.”

Jalen Williams scored 34 points on 13-for-24 shooting, and Chet Holmgren added 21 points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday at OKC.

American Music Awards 2025: See the full list of winners

The American Music Awards returned on Monday, May 26, held at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas and hosted by Jennifer Lopez.

The show kicked off with Lopez offering an energetic dance number set to a medley of 23 of the year’s biggest tracks, featuring music by Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish, Shaboozey, Beyoncé, and others.

Billie Eilish, who entered the night with seven nominations, walked away with the coveted Artist of the Year award. She was also nominated in several other categories, including Album of the Year and Favorite Pop Album for Hit Me Hard and Soft, as well as Song of the Year and Favorite Pop Song for Birds of a Feather. SZA won for Favorite R&B Song for “Saturn” and Favorite Female R&B Artist.

Gracie Abrams took home the award for New Artist of the Year. Meanwhile, Eminem was awarded Favorite Male Hip-Hop Artist, adding another accolade to his long list of achievements. Eilish, Abrams, and Eminem were not present to accept their awards in person.

Janet Jackson made a highly anticipated return to the stage, performing for the first time on television in seven years in honor of her Icon Award. In addition, Rod Stewart received the Lifetime Achievement Award, celebrating a career that has spanned over 60 years.

Billy Joel cancels all upcoming concerts after revealing brain disorder diagnosis

Billy Joel has revealed that he is canceling all upcoming concerts after being diagnosed with the brain disorder Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH).  The condition has reportedly worsened due to the strain of recent performances, causing difficulties with Joel’s balance, hearing, and vision.

Following medical advice, Joel, 76, will undergo a course of specialized physical therapy and has been told to pause all live performances while he recovers. He shared his gratitude and understanding from his fans, saying he’s eager for the day he can return to the stage. A statement posted to Joel’s Instagram read: “This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision, and balance. Under his doctor’s instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period .. Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritizing his health. He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage.” The statement also confirmed that all ticketholders would receive an automatic refund.

In the official statement, Joel himself added: “I’m sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding.”

Canceled dates include solo shows, which including a trio of stadium shows in the New York City area, as well as co-headlining performances with Sting, Rod Stewart, and Stevie Nicks through July 2026. In March, Joel postponed eight stadium concerts he was scheduled to do through July, citing an undisclosed “medical condition”

Oklahoma City Thunder take 2-0 series lead with 118-103 win over Minnesota Timberwolves

The Oklahoma City Thunder took a 2-0 series lead with a 118-103 win over Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals on Thursday.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander – who accepted the NBA MVP award from Commissioner Adam Silver before the game – posted 38 points, eight assists and three steals in the game, making 12 of 21 field goals and 13 of 15 free throws. Jalen Williams had 26 points and 10 rebounds and Chet Holmgren added 22 points for the Thunder.

Gilgeous-Alexander said after the game: “I feel like all my emotions were so high, but I was a little bit tired out there, especially at the start. I was a little too juiced up. Special moment. I’m happy we won so I can really enjoy the last couple days and soak it up. That really helps.” (per ESPN.)

Game 3 will take place in Minneapolis on Saturday.

Florida Panthers defeat Carolina Hurricanes 5-0 in Game 2

The Florida Panthers took a 5-0 win against the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final at Lenovo Center on Thursday.

Sam Bennett had two goals and an assist, Carter Verhaeghe had three assists for the Panthers, and Sergei Bobrovsky made 17 saves, marking the third shutout for Bobrovsky in the playoffs. Gustav Forsling and Matthew Tkachuk also scored, and Aaron Ekblad and Evan Rodrigues each had two assists.

Florida forward Sam Reinhart left the game after the first period with a lower-body injury; Panthers coach Paul Maurice said after the game that Reinhart would be evaluated on Friday and that there would be no update on Reinhart’s status until Saturday. (per ESPN).

The Panthers lead the series 2-0; Game 3 will be in Sunrise, Florida, on Saturday.

See Benicio del Toro in trailer for Wes Anderson’s ‘The Phoenician Scheme’

Focus Features released a trailer for Wes Anderson’s upcoming film The Phoenician Scheme, starring Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton and Michael Cera.  The film marks Anderson’s first feature film since Asteroid City, released in 2023.

The Phoenician Scheme stars del Toro as Zsa-zsa Korda, one of the richest men in Europe, who survives his sixth recorded airplane crash. The trailer shows Korda, a father of 10, decide to make his daughter, Liesl (Threapleton), a nun, the sole heir to his estate. Cera also stars as a tutor named Bjorn, with the cast also including Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Richard Ayoade, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend and Hope Davis.

The Phoenician Scheme debuts in limited release May 30, and will expand wider June 6; see the trailer – HERE.

‘Waiting for Godot’ with Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter opening on Broadway in September

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will take to the Broadway stage in a new production of Waiting for Godot, opening on Sept. 28.

Waiting for Godot debuted on stage in 1953, centering on the characters Estragon (Reeves) and Vladimir (Alex Winter) as they talk while waiting for the arrival of the mysterious Godot.

The Broadway production of Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot starring Reeves and Winter will begin previews on Saturday, September 13 ahead of the September 28 opening night. The strictly limited engagement will play through Sunday, January 4, 2026, with Jamie Lloyd serving as producer and director.

Reeves will be making his Broadway debut, while Winter made his Broadway debut as a child actor in The King & I with Yul Brynner and Peter Pan with Sandy Duncan. He also appeared in the American premiere of Simon Gray’s Close of Play at Manhattan Theatre Club.

Reeves and Winter previously starred together in the 1989 movie Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Reeves, who plays the title character in the John Wick film series, will reprise the role in the upcoming spinoff Ballerina, which opens June 6.

Linkin Park to headline UEFA Champions League final kick off show

Pepsi® and UC3 have announced that Linkin Park will headline the UEFA Champions League Final Kick Off Show. The band will take to the stage at Munich Football Arena on May 31, 2025.

Linkin Park said of the news: “With our new album and ongoing tour, we’ve been overwhelmed by the fans’ energy and excitement. We can’t wait to share that same energy and excitement at the UEFA Champions League Final Kick Off Show presented by Pepsi.
