New Orleans Saints hire Eagles OC Kellen Moore as their new head coach

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that the New Orleans Saints have hired former Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore as their 12th full-time head coach in franchise history. The moves comes just two days after Moore helped bring the Philadelphia Eagles a 40–22 Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Caesars Superdome on Sunday.

New Orleans fired coach Dennis Allen on Nov. 4 after suffering seven straight losses. Special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi took over as the interim head coach in Week 10 and led the Saints to three wins in eight games the rest of the way to finish with a 5–12 record—the franchise’s first last-place finish in the NFC South since 2008.

Moore, who appeared in three games at quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys in 2015, began his coaching career with Dallas as the quarterbacks coach in ’18. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in ’19 and spent four years there before serving the same role with the Los Angeles Chargers in ’23 and the Eagles in ’24.

Hawks’ Trae Young added to All-Star Game as replacement for injured Giannis Antetokounmpo

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced Monday that he has added Atlanta Hawks’ guard Trae Young to the NBA All-Star Game roster as an injury replacement for Milwaukee Bucks’ forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is unable to play due to a calf injury.

Young recently expressed displeasure about being snubbed from the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, through the balloting for the starters or the coaches’ selections of reserve players.  He wrote on social media at the time: “It’s getting ‘Traed’ at this point”  (coining a new word in reaction to being snubbed).

Young, 26, is the NBA’s assist leader this season and now a four-time All-Star selection; he replaces Antetokounmpo on Team Chuck, the eight-man squad drafted last week by Charles Barkley. Young averaged 23.5 points and a league-high 11.4 assists, in addition to 3.2 rebounds per game through 49 starts this season. After the announcement was made, Young wrote Monday on social media“Some things in life are just bigger than yourself”

The NBA All-Star Game, a four-team, three mini-game tournament, will start at 8 p.m. EST Sunday at Chase Center in San Francisco.

Tiger Woods withdraws from 2025 Genesis Invitational due to mother’s death

Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the 2025 Genesis Invitational tournament due to the death of his mother, Kultida Woods. The 15-time major winner announced his mother’s death last Tuesday at the age of 81. Woods was set to tee it up in his first non-major championship since last year’s Genesis Invitational.

Woods announced Monday his withdrawal from the event he hosts, which will take place at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego this year (instead of Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles due to damage caused by the recent wildfires in the Pacific Palisades area).

Woods wrote in a statement released on social media: “I planned to tee it up this week, but I’m just not ready. I did my best to prepare, knowing it’s what my Mom would have wanted, but I’m still processing her loss. Thanks to everyone who has reached out. I hope to be at Torrey later in the week and appreciate the continued kindness since my Mom’s passing.”

Woods, 49, played just five tournaments last season before undergoing season-ending back surgery. He has since played at the PNC Championship with his son, Charlie Woods, in December; and also played two matches with his Jupiter Links GC team in the TGL (the virtual golf league he co-founded along with a group of investors that includes Rory McIlroy).
