Former One Direction singer Liam Payne, 31, has died after a fall from his hotel balcony in Argentina on Wednesday evening. Authorities have not determined if Liam’s death was intentional or accidental; no further details have been shared as of press time, with authorities remaining on-site to investigate.

TMZ was the first to break the news of Payne’s death, reporting that several witnesses at the hotel where he was staying in Buenos Aires tell us Liam fell from his room on the 3rd floor of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel shortly after 5 PM in Buenos Aires. Witnesses also stated that Liam had been acting erratic in the hotel lobby earlier the same day, smashing his laptop, and was carried back to his room. NY Giants’ Andrew Thomas expected to miss remainder of season after undergoing foot surgery

New York Giants’ left tackle Andrew Thomas underwent surgery Wednesday morning and will miss the remainder of the season.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Thomas had surgery in Charlotte, NC, performed by noted foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson, to repair a Lisfranc injury in his foot: “#Giants star LT Andrew Thomas, one of the NFL’s best, had successful surgery this morning to repair a Liafranc injury in his foot, sources say. He is expected to be out for the season”

It has been feared Thomas, 25, had sustained a significant foot injury during Sunday night’s 17-7 loss to the Bengals, and that a Lisfranc injury was suspected. Thomas was seen limping, and said after the game that even after going through X-rays, he still wasn’t sure what the issue was: “Something’s sore, I don’t know exactly what it is.”

Thomas missed seven games early last season with a strained hamstring, and now is expected to miss the final 11 games this season.  On Sunday, the left tackle played all 79 offensive snaps for the Giants against the Bengals, and he has played every single offensive snap this season.  Thomas is considered the Giants best and most accomplished offensive lineman, and is under contract through the 2029 season after signing a five-year extension worth $117.5 million.

NY Jets acquire wide receiver Davante Adams from Los Angeles Raiders

The New York Jets have acquired wide receiver Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for a conditional draft pick. Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport: 🚨 🚨 🚨 “The #Raiders are completing a trade of star WR Davante Adams to the #Jets, sources say. Back with his good friend, Aaron Rodgers. As Las Vegas moves on.”

Adams has missed the last three games with the Raiders due to a hamstring injury, and must pass a physical to complete the trade. Multiple reports state that he had requested a trade at the beginning of this month.

The Jets will send the Raiders a conditional third-round pick, which can become a second-round selection if certain conditions are met.  The move also reunites Adams, 31, with Jets’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who played together on the Green Bay Packers from 2014-2021. In eight seasons together on the Packers, Rodgers and Adams connected 622 times for 7,590 yards and 69 touchdowns, and Rodgers won three of his four MVPs with Adams.

Adams, a six-time Pro Bowl selection, was the second-round pick of Green Bay in 2014. He spent nine seasons with the Packers before he was traded to the Raiders in March 2022.  The WR caught 103 passes for 1,516 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns last season; in 153 career games, and has 18 catches for 209 yards and one touchdown through three games so far this season before being injured.  In 2020, Adams led all receivers with 18 touchdowns, and the next year he led the league in receptions and receiving yards.

The Jets will face the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) at 8:20 p.m. EDT Sunday in Pittsburgh.
