Ricky Martin and his husband, Jwan Yosef, are divorcing after six years of marriage. The couple shared the news in a joint Instagram post on July 6: “For some time, we have considered transforming our relationship, and it is after careful consideration that we have decided to end our marriage with love, respect, and dignity for our children preserving and honoring what we have experienced as a couple all of these wonderful years. Our greatest desire now is to continue having a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centered on our genuine friendship as we continue the joint upbringing of our children. As always, we thank you for all the love and support we received throughout our marriage. They connected IRL for the first time six months later in London, and were engaged in 2016. Marti and Yosef were married in 2018, and welcomed their children together soon after.

Born in Syria and raised in Sweden, Yosef is an accomplished painter and artist who just opened a new studio in Los Angeles. Martin was recently cast in the upcoming Apple TV+ series “Palm Royale”, featuring Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern, Carol Burnett and Allison Janney. In October, the singer is set to kick off The Trilogy Tour across North America with co-headliners Pitbull and Enrique Iglesias.

Fall Out Boy release updated version of Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start The Fire”

Fall Out Boy have shared an updated version of Billy Joel’s classic hit, “We Didn’t Start the Fire.” Joel’s version mentioned events that took place from 1949 through 1989; Fall Out Boy picked up where Joel left off, starting with 1989 through 2023. However, Fall Out Boy did not run through the timeline in chronological order, like Joel’s version does.

Fall Out Boy said of the updated song: “I thought about this song a lot when I was younger. All these important people and events- some that disappeared into the sands of time- others that changed the world forever. So much has happened in the span of the last 34 years- we felt like a little system update might be fun. Hope you like our take on it…”

In celebration of the release, the band has dropped a limited edition 7-inch vinyl version of the track that includes an etching on side B. The vinyl, limited to $5,000 copies, can be purchased at the band’s webstore.

To stream, Fall Out Boy’s version of “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” head here.

Dodgers pitcher Dustin May to undergo right elbow surgery, expected to miss season

Los Angeles Dodgers announced that pitcher Dustin May will undergo surgery July 18 to repair the flexor tendon in his throwing elbow. No timeline was disclosed by the club, but it is expected that May will miss the remainder of the 2023 season. The 25-year-old righty has been sidelined since May with what was at the time termed a flexor-pronator strain. He previously underwent Tommy John surgery in 2021 and as a result missed much of 2021 and 2022.

The news of May’s surgery comes just days after the Dodgers placed ace Clayton Kershaw on the injured list with a sore shoulder. The Dodgers are also without Walker Buehler, who underwent Tommy John surgery in August of last year, and Noah Syndergaard, who’s sidelined with blister issues.

May has pitched a 3.10 ERA/138 ERA+ with a 3.05 K/BB ratio in 191 2/3 career innings across five major league seasons.

Yankees’ pitcher Jimmy Cordero suspended for violating MLB’s domestic violence policy

MLB announced Wednesday the suspension of New York Yankees relief pitcher Jimmy Cordero for the remainder of the 2023 season for violating the league’s joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy. The 31-year-old Cordero was placed on MLB’s restricted list effective immediately; he will participate in a league-mandated evaluation and treatment policy, and will miss the remaining 76 games of the regular season and the postseason. The announcement didn’t stipulate which section of the policy Cordero violated, nor is it clear what he is accused of or if he faces pending criminal charges (the league’s policy doesn’t require criminal charges to enact a suspension).

The Yankees released a statement in support of the suspension: “The Yankees are fully supportive of Major League Baseball’s investigative process and the disciplinary action applied to Jimmy Cordero. There is no justification for domestic violence, and we stand with the objectives, standards and enforcement of MLB’s joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy.” Cordero hasn’t addressed the suspension publicly.

Cordero joined the franchise in 2021 on a minor-league contract, but hadn’t pitched in MLB since 2020 with the Chicago White Sox (he missed the entire 2021 season after Tommy John surgery while with Chicago). He spent 2022 with the Yankees’ Triple-A team at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. This year, Cordero’s appeared in 31 games for the Yankees, most recently this past Sunday against the St. Louis Cardinals. He produced a 3.86 ERA, with 34 strikeouts and 10 walks in 32 2/3 innings this season, his first at the MLB level with the Yankees.

‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ trailer drops, starring Josh Hutcherson

In the Five Nights at Freddy’s film trailer, fans will take a look into Freddy Fazbear and friends’ world — and can expect all the fright and fears they’ve come to expect from the video game. In order to support them, Mike calls a man named William Afton (Lillard), to inquire about a security job at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Angels place OF Mike Trout on IL with hamate bone hand fracture

The Los Angeles Angels announced that outfielder Mike Trout has a fractured hamate bone in his left hand and has been placed on the 10-day injured list. Hamate fractures typically require surgery and require with a 3-7 week recovery.

Trout, 31, suffered the injury during Monday’s game against the San Diego Padres, when he fouled back an 0-1 pitch from Nick Martinez in the seventh inning. He shook his left arm, returning to the batter’s box, but called for assistance before seeing another pitch.  Trout said Monday night: “I just took a swing and something felt uncomfortable. I can’t describe the pain I felt. I never felt it before, ever, before this. I never had wrist problems or anything. Just freak things.” Trout was replaced in the lineup by Mickey Moniak.

Trout entered Monday’s game batting .263 with 18 homers and 44 RBIs, and two stolen bases in 81 games; he had two hits and a walk Monday night, including an RBI single in the sixth.  His injury comes after he was chosen to his 11th career All-Star Game, set to start next week in Seattle.
