The trailer for Netflix’s “Murder Mystery 2” was released, starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler as married couple Nick and Audrey Spitz.  The original Murder Mystery film, which premiered on Netflix in 2019, was a huge success, topping Netflix’s list of its most popular releases that year.

Rihanna gives a powerful performance of ‘Lift Me Up’ at the 2023 Oscars

Rihanna took the stage to sing her Oscar-nominated song “Lift Me Up” from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” at the 95th annual Academy Awards show on Sunday at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.

Danai Gurira, who played Okoye in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, introduced Rihanna as “royalty in her own right.”  Said Gurira: “Ludwig Göransson, Ryan Coogler, Tems and Rihanna wrote a ballad that speaks from the heart as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman. Chadwick’s powerful artistry, his magnetism and incomparable humanity left an indelible mark on our hearts. Chadwick embodied the Wakandan king T’Challa.”

The 35-year-old Rihanna, wearing a Maison Margiela Artisanal ensemble custom made for her by John Galliano for Maison Margiela, gave an emotional performance which earned a standing ovation from the audience (including from her boyfriend A$AP Rocky). “Lift Me Up” was nominated for original song, up against “Applause” from “Tell It Like a Woman”, “Hold My Hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick”, “This Is a Life” from “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and “Naatu Naatu” from “RRR.” The award ultimately went to “RRR.”

Defensive tackle Daron Payne agrees to four-year, $90M extension with Commanders

Per a tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Pro Bowl defensive tackle Daron Payne will sign a long-term extension with the Washington Commanders, agreeing on a four-year, $90 million deal that includes $60 million guaranteed. The deal makes Oayne the second-highest paid defensive tackle in NFL history (behind Aaron Donald). Payne made $8.5 million last season after the team picked up the fifth-year option on his rookie deal.

The defensive tackle is coming off the best season of his NFL career, starting all 17 games for the Commanders.  Payne posted career-best marks in tackles (64), tackles for loss (18), quarterback hits (20), sacks (11.5) and pass breakups (five), making his first career Pro Bowl appearance.  Since Washington selected him in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, he has missed just one game in five seasons with the Commanders, appearing in 81 games with 75 starts over that span.

Commanders coach Ron Rivera said earlier in the month that the organization was committed to keeping Payne: “There are a lot of things we need to do, as far as our team is concerned… It’s showing the commitment to try and get (Payne) signed and keep him here. The guy has been integral in the development into this football team and this defense as well as the other guys he plays alongside with. We wanted to make sure everyone understood we are serious.”

Miami Dolphins acquiring cornerback Jalen Ramsey in trade with Rams

The Miami Dolphins will acquire star cornerback Jalen Ramsey in a deal with the Los Angeles Rams, sending back a 2023 third-round pick and tight end Hunter Long. ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted the breaking news: “Trade is now agreed to, per sources: 🏈Dolphins get Pro Bowl CB Jalen Ramsey 🏈Rams get 2023 third-round pick (No. 77) and TE Hunter Long Trade will be processed Wednesday, when league year begins.” Miami acquires Ramsey with three years remaining on his contract.

Ramsey appeared to confirm the trade talks with a simple tweet. The 28-year-old has been named First-Team All-Pro three times since being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 5 overall in 2016. He was traded to the Rams in 2019 for two first-rounder picks and a fourth-rounder. In 2020, Ramsey signed a five-year, $105 million extension with the Rams, helping them win Super Bowl LVI the following season.  Ramsey has 19 career interceptions; his new teammate Xavien Howard has 28 (most among all players).

‘Scream VI’ earns franchise high $43.5M it its opening weekend

‘Scream VI’ knocked ‘Creed III‘ out of the top spot at the domestic box office, grossing $19.3 million from 3,675 locations on its opening day (including $5.7 million in previews).  ‘Scream VI’ scored a franchise record opening weekend of $43.5 million, higher than the $32 million that “Scream 2” earned when it debuted back in 1997.

‘Scream VI’  is set in New York City, where former Woodsboro victims (played by Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Courteney Cox), have relocated. Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin returned to direct ‘Scream VI’, along with writers Guy Busick and James Vanderbilt.

Following ‘Scream VI’ and ‘Creed III’, the top five at the box office consisted of Columbia Pictures’ ’65’ starring Adam Driver, which landed in third place in its opening. Fourth place went to go to Disney’s ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.’ The Marvel entry, now in its fourth weekend of release, looks to surpass the $200 million mark at the domestic box office. Universal’s ‘Cocaine Bear‘ rounded out the top five on domestic charts, pushing its domestic gross earnings to $51 million.

BTS’ Jimin shares album concept photos, reveals first track “Set Me Free Pt.2”

BTS’ Jimin revealed concept photos of his forthcoming solo album, ‘FACE’, sharing the pics via BigHit Music’s social media platforms. Conceptually, the photos depict the meanings of the album title — which means “face” as a noun and “to face” as a verb. In the ‘hardware’ concept photo, Jimin gives a dramatic look in a leather jacket. He later revealed ‘Software” concept photos that contrasts with the ‘Hardware’ photos. In the ‘Software’ photos, Jimin is wearing outfits with light tones. In addition, Jimin shared a new poster for his upcoming solo song, revealing he will pre-release the track titled “Set Me Free Pt.2” on March 17.

Jimin previously revealed last month that ‘FACE’ will contain six tracks, and several producers and musicians—including Pdogg, Supreme Boi, GHSTLOOP, Evan, BLVSH, Chris James and BTS colleague RM—participated in creating the album. To pre-order ‘FACE,’ head here.

Jimin is the fourth member of BTS to release solo music in the past year. J-Hope released Jack in the Box last summer featuring “More” and “Arson,” Jin released “The Astronaut” last fall with Coldplay, and RM released his first solo album Indigo in December. The band is currently on hiatus as each member fulfills their mandatory military service commitment to South Korea.  The band are expected to reunite in 2025.
