World Series Game 3 postponed due to rain in Philadelphia

MLB announced Monday evening that they were postponing Game 3 of the World Series on Halloween between the Astros and Phillies due to rain in Philadelphia.

Game 3 will instead be played on Tuesday, with the Astros set to start Lance McCullers Jr., while the Phillies will send Noah Syndergaard to the mound. With an extra day of rest due to the postponement, pitching plans for Game 4 could be altered. As of press time, Cristian Javier was scheduled to start for the Astros in Game 4, while Ranger Suarez was slated to take the mount for the Phillies. Instead, Justin Verlander and Aaron Nola could potentially be back on regular rest for Game 4, after starting in Game 1.

The rest of the World Series schedule will also be pushed back a day — Games 4 and 5 will be held in Philadelphia on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, with the teams having Friday off before a potential Game 6 in Houston on Saturday. If necessary, Game 7 of the World Series would be held on Sunday.

Auburn fires head football coach Bryan Harsin after 3-5 start

Auburn announced on Monday that they have fired head football coach Byran Harsin after a 3-5 start to the 2022 season — making him the program’s shortest-tenured head coach in the last 93 years.

The school said in a statement: “Auburn University has decided to make a change in the leadership of the Auburn University football program. President Christopher Roberts made the decision after a thorough review and evaluation of all aspects of the football program. Auburn will begin an immediate search for a coach that will return the Auburn program to a place where it is consistently competing at the highest levels and representing the winning tradition that is Auburn football.”

Auburn hired Harsin in 2021, and he led the Tigers to a 6-7 record in his first season. The Tigers got off to a 6-2 start last season, but finished with five-consecutive losses. This year the Tigers started the season at 3-1, but since have lost their last four games.

Harsin finishes 9-12 (4-9 SEC) in less than two full seasons on the job after taking over for Gus Malzahn following the 2020 campaign. Malzahn was 67-35 (38-27 SEC) in eight seasons at Auburn. He was fired in 2020 and was hired in February to coach Central Florida. Malzahn led the Knights to a 9-4 record in 2021. The Knights are 6-2 this season.

Auburn will face Mississippi State at 7:30 p.m. EDT Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium in Mississippi State, Miss.

The CW’s ‘Stargirl’ ending its run after Season 3

The CW’s DC Comics drama Stargirl will end its run with its current third season. The Warner Bros. Television series — from creator Geoff Johns and starring Brec Bassinger — will wrap its run with its finale Dec. 7.  Stargirl’s cancellation comes as the network has dramatically reduced its volume of U.S. scripted originals after The CW was sold earlier this year to station group Nexstar (who has taken over nearly full control).  It also becomes the fourth CW scripted series to end this season, joining Nancy Drew, The Flash and Riverdale.

Creator Johns said in a statement on Monday: “Stargirl has always held a special place in my heart for many reasons. With all the brewing changes at the network, we were aware this was possibly the last season, so we wrote with that in mind and have delivered what I believe to be the best season of Stargirl yet, with complete creative closure. The cast and crew are extraordinary, and I’d like to thank them for helping me bring this series to life. Brec embodied Courtney in every way possible — with grace, strength and humor — exceeding my wildest expectations. I am grateful to WBTV and The CW for giving us a home to tell this story and to honor my beloved late sister, and I’m beyond thankful to the press and fans who have always championed us for three amazing seasons. Most series never get this far. We couldn’t be more proud of our show and the fan community it’s built!”

Bassinger said: “Getting to play Stargirl and be a part of the DC Universe has been the greatest honor, and I am so grateful for every moment of it. I would like to thank our fearless leader Geoff Johns, along with WBTV, The CW, the cast and crew of Stargirl, and of course, the fans. Thank you. This show will forever live in my heart.”

Jesse Williams joining Season 3 of Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building”

Jesse Williams is joining the cast of Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” for Season 3.

“OMITB” wrapped its second season on Aug. 23, and Hulu announced the show had been renewed for a third season on July 11, shortly after it became one of the most-nominated TV series at the 2022 Emmys (scoring a whopping 17 nods for its first season.)

In season two, Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Oliver Putnam (Martin Short), and Mabel Mora (Selena Gomez) scramble to clear their names after Bunny is murdered, and it seems like they’ll be prime suspects again in Ben’s murder. The new mystery for season three also moves the center of the action away from the Arconia for the first time.

Imagine Dragons shares new video for ‘Bones’ remix

Imagine Dragons are sharing a ‘Halloween’ themed video for the remix of their single “Bones”, from German electronic group Twocolors. The new black and white visual for the Bones remix pays homage to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video.

Lead singer Dan Reynolds said in a statement about the original Thriller video:  “I’ve always loved that ‘Thriller’ was both scary and playful. I didn’t know as a kid if I wanted to watch it again or not for fear of the ensuing nightmares, but I always came back for more with my eyes half-closed. The idea of punishing Wall Street with a zombie infection felt like an enjoyable time. And it was.”

Regarding the song ‘Bones,’ Reynolds says: “‘Bones’ is a reflection of my constant obsession with the finality and fragility of life. I’m alway in search of some evidence that will convince me that there is more to come — that life is truly eternal in some sense. Having yet to find that, I try to at least dream of what conquering death would feel like in a song.”

Taylor Swift earns her 11th No. 1 album with ‘Midnights’

For the 11th time, Taylor Swift has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with her latest LP.  Midnights has sold more than a million copies since its release on October 21, including more than half a million vinyl sales, making it the biggest-selling album in almost seven years.  The last album to achieve larger first-week sales was Adele’s ’25.’

Swift now ties Barbra Streisand for the most No. 1 albums among women. Swift is also the sixth musician to earn more than 10 No. 1 LPs on the Billboard 200, joins The Beatles (who lead with a record 19 No. 1s), Jay-Z (14), Drake, Bruce Springsteen and Streisand (each with 11).

In addition to being this year’s top-selling LP by overall sales, Midnights also had the largest sales week for an album since Swift’s 2017 full-length, Reputation.
